Chanel artist wanted to take a picture with me because he said he loved my dress. I live for Chanel so I was happy. I should have asked for that pin!

Last week I had the pleasure of attending a great networking/beauty event hosted by Color Comm with mentor Camille Davis of MontagePR. Color Comm is an organization devoted to uniting women of color in the communication field and creating platforms for interaction and industry awareness. I'm finding attending these events to be beneficial because cross industry networking diversifies your contacts for future projects as well as future networking opportunities. It is also forcing me out of my shell and teaching me how to communicate and relate to people I have never met before. This particular event was especially on point because communications is so strongly related to fashion. Without the press releases, journalism write ups, and advertisement campaigns how would the world even know fashion exists?
The event was held in the Dupont Circle area at the Blue Mercury cosmetic retailer which is filled with the best hair, makeup, and skin products currently on the market. Special guest and makeup artist Nikki Frazier, gave plenty of great tips on how to apply makeup in the summer ( great advice on that sweltering ninety degree day), proper application techniques, and informed us of products best for women of color. After her segment we had the opportunity to mix and mingle over wine and snacks. Chanel makeup artists were also giving free make overs and Blue Mercury staff gave product tutorials.I had the chance to chat with a few prominent bloggers, PR, and even ran into a few designers and stylists. I enjoyed myself and thank you to Color Comm for throwing such an awesome event.
